The Royals Junior team will be facing a re-set. Due to a new policy which has been clarified by people in charge, the 2nd team can consist of 2nd year students instead of 1st years and matrics. So, the debate club will be having a re-selection next week and this means my status of representing Uni is now pending.
*ponders*
I guess it’s another chance to prove myself... or not.
I have to admit that in my opinion, there are a whole bunch of others that are more deserving of the coveted place compared to myself.
I.e. those who’ve worked harder in upping themselves and been around much longer.
But as much as I consent to this in my mind, it still won’t stop me from trying (no way ;p)
…but only IF I can make it to the re-selections (it is on the 5th / 6th of Raya btw…)
*ponders again*
----------
For the past 2 days, I’ve been trying to make myself stay in one place and study.
Like, really study. I simply have to for finals!
But so far, the most I could remain in such a setting is… 40 minutes.
Okay, maybe half an hour ;p
I’m so easily distracted.
Sometimes my attention span frustrates me.
This is the curse of loving to multitask so much… your mind just kind of flip channels naturally.
My thoughts are like mixed up transmissions.
It makes me wonder what/who could really hold me down…
*grins*
Haha… ;-)
Another related thought to that last sentence just crept into my mind.
But I… don’t think I want to elaborate on it.
Not now anyway ;p

Have you read about the bunch of scientists who are working on an invisibility cloak?
Kind of reminds me of the one in Harry Potter.
My first thought was, “Cool…!”.
But then I decided it’s not. Well, not really.
Imagine the amount of evil one/people can get up to with the ability to be invisible…
(Okay, think villains from movies on cartoons on overload)
But with terrorism and political conspiracies that are going on at this moment… it would be a spy’s dream come true won’t it?
Then again, you’ll never know if the technology has already been developed for certain countries’ “security purposes”.
It’s scary… perhaps even scarier than the idea of human cloning.
(That’s the research topic I’ve been working on for BM)
*generating possibilities*
*shivers*
…
Oh, since I mentioned “security purposes” as a country’s priority… did you read about the bill Bush signed?
The one where anyone (regardless) who is a suspect of terrorism can be detained (i.e. Guantanamo Bay) for interrogations and questionings by U.S. intelligence officials with trials in a military court.
He claimed that his main purpose is to support the “war against terrorism” and “save American lives”, perhaps a form prevention for any other potential 9/11.
He does not want any more ”innocent lives” to be sacrificed…
BUT,
What about Geneva Convention?
What about the breaching of basic human rights involved?
How come American people’s right supersedes those of people from other nationalities?
If innocent lives is his main concern, what about the casualties in Iraq which are increasing on a daily basis because of his decisions?
Why not tackle the root of the problem in stages instead of taking shortcuts?
…
…
See what power can make people do?
Think about it.
Relate that to the invisible cloak too.
See where I’m getting at?
…
Thank you.
